My Veggie Restaurant, IOI City Mall, Putrajaya

IMG_5921.JPG
One of the vegetarian option in IOI City Mall, Putrajaya is this restaurant. It has many choices from Asians, Westerns and kids meal. You can either order dishes to share or individual portions. It have a vast varieties that will spoilt you for choices. It did to me! However, as there’s only 2 of us. We had a taste for something soupy.

Veggie Bak Kut Teh (RM17.90)

This is always our top choice. It is also their recommended meal. It is a bowl of herbal soup with mushrooms, bean curd slices, vegetarian meat and lettuce. Supplement with a bowl of brown rice. It’s always an appetizing dish for me.

IMG_5923.JPG
Assam Laksa (RM13.90)

Also a recommended dish by the restaurant. This is my first time having vegetarian Assam laksa. A spicy soury soup with vegetarian fish, and rice noodles topped with pineapple and cucumber stripes, chili and mint leaves. I love the how the soup taste thick like the non-vegetarian Assam laksa. I would love it more if it’s more sour because my tolerance level towards sour is quite high. Still, it’s appetizing! Yum!

Cravings Restaurant, Bandar Mahkota Cheras

An addition to this area, a nice comfy restaurant to spend your lunch, dinner or tea breaks.

IMG_5369-0.JPG

It has Asian food, some tastes familiar to our cultures; Westerns when you have a mood for Americans or Italians; little leaf indicators for Vegetarian diners; and never forgetting our little ones’ appetite for kids meal.

IMG_5470.JPG

Wild Mushroom Baked Penne (RM14.90)

Without the little leaf indicator, I would still think that this dish can be suitable for Vegetarian. Although you see just simple ingredients of cheese, fresh button mushrooms, penne and a little garlic in this dish, I have grown to like it to finish it to the last bit because it doesn’t give you the heavy feel of too much cheese or cream. It’s a comeback for me.

IMG_5471.JPG

Mario M Burger (RM18.90)

Grilled Portobello mushrooms with caramelised onions and oyster mushrooms sandwiched by lettuce, tomato, and buttered toast burger bun spread with mushroom sauce on lower bun and mayonnaise on top bun. A meat free burger with full of juicy flavours, though a little salty for my taste. So, the bun helps to reduce the saltiness of the mushrooms and onions. A more than a mouthful big burger is served with fries.

Drinks – they do serve some nice looking drinks but so far I have been too full to order one because they provide a bottle of water free. Cakes and drinks would be on my list for the next visit!

Currently, there’s offer of 20%-30% off on selected menu daily, except for Sundays, kids age 3-12 have kids meal for free for every RM20 spent (other terms and conditions applies).

Organic Express Restaurant, SS2 Petaling Jaya

This may be another vegetarian outlet near your home. A place I visit now and then. It can be quite busy during lunch and dinner peak period.

You can either order for vegetable dishes to share or individual portions. They order a rather wide range of dishes to choose from Western styled salad, pizza, pasta to Asian styled stir fry vegetables, tofu, mushrooms and noodle and rice.

Some choices we ordered:

IMG_5478.JPG

Petai Fried Rice (RM12.90)

Fragrantly stir fried rice with petai and other vegetable ingredients, topped with slices of lettuce and accompanied with bean cracker and satay. I liked the taste of the fried rice. The satay tasted like popcorn chicken (if you have tasted a real one, you’ll understand what I mean).

IMG_5480.JPG

Hin Hua Mee Swa with Ginger Soup (RM12.90)

Cooked Mee Swa (Hokkien word for a type of vermicelli) poured over with ginger soup together with varieties of vegetables such as tomato, leafy greens and dried beancurd slices. The soup has a strong ginger taste which will be loved by ginger lovers. A warming dish.

IMG_5481.JPG

Basil Fried Beehoon (RM12.90)

It’s stir fried meehoon with spinach, cabbage, tofu, carrot strips, bean sprout and accompanied by bean cracker and satay. Looks like a normal dish of fried meehoon but it has a strong basil taste. If you like basil, it is a fragrant dish!

IMG_5482.JPG

Yunnan Style Fried Vermicelli (RM12.90)

From the looks of it, it looks similar to Basil Fried Meehoon. The ingredients are similar as well excluding the basil. I do not know how Yunnan fried meehoon taste like but to me it taste like a more fragrant Singapore fried meehoon. It’s good enough for my taste.

IMG_5483.JPG

Stir Fry Lotus Root with Mix Vegetables (RM15.90)

More vegetables to add more fibre to our diet. Crunchy lotus root and green pea with brocoli, cauliflower, carrot, black fungus and mushroom as the ingredients. However, I think that it’s a little salty to eat it on its own. Best to eat with rice or noodle.

Kiat Lim Vegetarian Food, Kallang

I was being introduced to this place recently, hearing good comments of food here.

20140412-134109.jpg

It is located beside a famous Jalan Sultan Prawn Mee. From the first look, comparing to the neighbour, the shop looks quiet, with only 1 customer inside when we entered. We were welcomed by a straight looking uncle but soon become very jovial and friendly.

20140412-134118.jpg

Wolfberry soup (SGD4.00 for small)
This soup gave us a big question mark. Where is the wolfberry? You don’t see it but the soup is sweet with it, cooking with very fresh and sweet vegetables, corn, tomato and fried beancurd slices. The small portion is enough to share for 2.

20140412-134124.jpg

Fried mee sua (SGD4.50 for small)
I like this dish. It’s mee sua is just right with tasty sauce, stir-fried with at least 4 types of vegetables. The taste became more refreshing with a squeeze of lime juice.

20140412-134129.jpg

Vegetables with Bailin (SGD10.00 for small)
Bailin mushroom presented with Chinese cabbage, wolfberries and moss. Looking at the soup and then to this dish, had the wolfberries came here instead? ^_^ The mushroom is sliced very thinly making easy to eat. The Chinese cabbage is fresh and crunchy. The sauce is also nice to pour over some rice.

Loving Heart Vegetarian Restaurant, Bandar Mahkota Cheras

There are many vegetarian restaurants around Bandar Mahkota Cheras. This time let’s try this one!

20140406-102701.jpg

This shop is located opposite Aeon, Bandar Mahkota Cheras, with a green decoration inside the shop presenting a green living environment. It’s a colour comfortable to the eyes.

20140406-102639.jpg

Veggie Bak Kut Tea (RM11.00)
A warm herbal soup that keeps you warm especially during rainy days. The bak kut teh soup is cooked with beancurd slices, mushrooms, toupok, and vegetarian pork. The vegetarian pork has a nice chew to it, a little like the real pork. The soup is also accompanied by a plate of lettuce and slices of you tiao and a bowl of rice.

20140406-102646.jpg

Chuk San Wan Yee Soup 竹生云耳汤 (RM12.00)
The main ingredient of this soup is black fungus, together with many other ingredients such as carrots, wolfberries, and vegetarian fishball. A hot and filling soup to the tummy.

20140406-102654.jpg

Hokkien fried hakka noodle (RM8.50)

I, sometimes, have the craving of some “black” noodle. This dish met satisfied my cravings. Hakka noodle stir-fried with alot of vegetables such as carrot, Chinese cabbage, mushroom, vegetarian char siew, and beancurd slices. A delicious dish.
